The Chamber
Mission Statement
The mission of the El Centro Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is to be an advocate for business, provide economic leadership and foster community pride to ensure growth, prosperity and quality of life in El Centro and the surrounding region.
About the Chamber
The El Centro Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic, retail, commercial and industrial progress of our community. The area’s economic well-being is directly related to the caliber of work performed by the Chamber.
The Chamber is a not-for-profit corporation. Its members elect the Board of Directors who in turn elect the corporate officers. The work of the Chamber is carried out by Committees task forces and a cadre of volunteers.
The El Centro Chamber of Commerce was organized in 1906 and incorporated in 1933. The early leaders formed the Chamber to promote the area as an agricultural center and to attract finances to underwrite the rebuilding of the system of irrigation ditches. Today’s Chamber leaders produce an annual business plan to:

The Chamber has grown from a handful of members to close to 750 strong. The work of the Chamber is overseen by a Board of Directors and the day-to-day operations are carried out by a team of professional staff members The Chamber also runs the visitors bureau where travelers from throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada stop by to pick up information on El Centro and the Imperial Valley.
